Hey there, friends! I've created a list of community norms- just some group rules to ensure we are keeping this space. These rules are my non-negotiable in order to ensure the safety of our survivors. This is a virtual space created for trauma survivors, healers, educators, and allies. Whether you are showing up on a zoom, attending an in person event, scrolling through Instagram and other socials, or surfing my site, it is expected that we all are respecting the space. If anyone says anything inappropriate or attacks are made indirectly/directly, they will be removed immediately and relationships will be terminated.
Feel free to add to this list in the comments and I will be sure to add your suggestions to our "TayTalks Community Norms" working doc!
Be kind
Have respect
Be open minded
Be ready to learn
Take a break if needed
Speak from the "I" perspective
Use trigger/distress warnings before you share personal stories, experiences, traumas when sending DMs, emails, or commenting on posts
On a positive note, here are some tips for how to handle haters and trolls, in the event that they show up today or anywhere in your life!
Try the 5,4,3,... breathing technique
Squeeze something to remind yourself that you are present and safe
Try creating short affirmation phrases
Count to ten
Think about a happy thought
Try the ABC "Around the Room" technique
Remember they are haters and you are powerful!
